If the alarm is a real emergency, evacuate immediately and call emergency services
If it is a false alarm, use the alarm panel’s silence or reset function if you are authorized to do so
Replace the battery if the alarm is chirping due to low power
Clean dust or debris from the alarm unit
Check for steam, smoke, or cooking fumes that may be triggering the alarm
Open windows or ventilate the area if safe to do so
Reset the breaker only if the alarm is hardwired and you are authorized and it is safe
Contact the building manager, landlord, or fire alarm company if the alarm will not stop
Do not disable or remove a fire alarm permanently
