Tap your profile picture
Tap Notifications and sounds
Turn off Sounds in the app
To mute a specific chat, open the conversation
Tap the chat name at the top
Tap Mute notifications
Choose how long to mute the chat
To mute call sounds, go to your phone settings
Find Messenger in the app list
Disable notification sounds for Messenger
