Gather the check you want to void
Write VOID in large letters across the front of the check
Use a pen or marker that is hard to erase
Do not sign the check
Do not make any other marks unless required by your bank
Record the voided check in your check register if needed
Keep the voided check for your records or discard it securely
If needed, provide the voided check to the requester or employer
