1 cup tomato paste
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup vinegar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/8 teaspoon ground allspice or cloves
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
Combine all ingredients in a saucepan
Whisk until smooth
Bring to a gentle simmer over medium-low heat
Cook for 10 to 15 minutes, stirring often
Adjust thickness with a little water if needed
Adjust sweetness, salt, or vinegar to taste
Cool before using
