Visit your local Illinois Secretary of State facility or use an approved dealer if applicable
Bring the vehicle title or Manufacturer’s Statement of Origin
Bring a completed Application for Vehicle Transaction(s) form
Provide proof of Illinois auto insurance
Provide a valid Illinois driver’s license or ID
Complete an odometer disclosure if required
Pay the title fee and registration fees
Pay any applicable sales tax or use tax
Submit the vehicle identification number verification if required
Obtain Illinois license plates and registration stickers
Keep the registration card in the vehicle
Renew the registration before it expires
