Wash your hands first
Use warm water and mild soap in the shower
Gently clean the outside of the belly button with your fingers or a soft washcloth
If needed, use a cotton swab dampened with warm water to clean inside the navel
Avoid pushing the swab too deep
Rinse away any soap residue
Dry the area thoroughly with a clean towel or cotton swab
Keep the belly button dry after bathing
Clean it regularly as part of your normal hygiene routine
Stop if you feel pain, redness, swelling, or notice discharge, and seek medical advice
