How To Rollerblade?

Choose rollerblades that fit snugly (no heel lift) and tighten straps starting from the bottom

Wear protective gear: helmet, wrist guards, knee pads, elbow pads

Practice on a flat, smooth surface with clear space

Start with one foot in front and push with the other to gain gentle forward momentum

Keep knees slightly bent and lean slightly forward

Keep skates parallel and use small, controlled strides

Practice stopping by using a toe stop (if equipped) or a braking technique like “T-stop” or “plow” with gradual pressure

Practice turning by shifting weight to the direction of the turn and using wider or shorter strides as needed

Learn to fall safely: squat down, keep hands protected, and try to avoid catching falls with bare hands

Get comfortable with starting and stopping before attempting turns at speed

Progress to basic skills: controlled speed changes, wider-to-narrower turns, and turning while maintaining balance

Avoid wet, sandy, or uneven surfaces and watch for cracks, debris, and traffic

Check skate wheels and bearings for wear and ensure trucks and straps are secure before skating

Use lights or reflective gear if skating in low visibility

Respect local rules, skate in permitted areas, and never skate under the influence
