How To Remedy An Ingrown Hair?

Stop shaving, waxing, or plucking the area until it heals

Clean the area gently with mild soap and water

Apply a warm compress for 10 to 15 minutes, several times a day

Gently exfoliate the skin with a soft washcloth or mild exfoliant

Do not pick, squeeze, or dig at the hair

Use a sterile needle or tweezers only if the hair tip is clearly visible at the surface

Apply an over-the-counter hydrocortisone cream if the area is inflamed

Use an antiseptic or antibiotic ointment if the skin is broken

Wear loose clothing to reduce friction

Moisturize the skin regularly to help prevent new ingrown hairs

Seek medical care if there is severe pain, spreading redness, pus, fever, or repeated ingrown hairs
