Open the bail
Thread the line through the rod guides
Wrap the line around the spool
Tie the line to the spool with an arbor knot
Close the bail
Hold light tension on the line
Turn the reel handle to start spooling
Keep the line coming off the filler spool in the same direction as the reel rotor
Fill the spool to about 1/8 inch below the rim
Stop if the line starts twisting or looping
Cut the line
Secure the line end
Check the spool for even line lay
