Check the care label for washing instructions
Make sure the comforter fits in your washer
Pretreat any stains with a gentle stain remover
Use a large-capacity washing machine if possible
Wash with cold or warm water on a gentle cycle
Use a mild detergent and avoid bleach unless allowed
Wash the comforter alone or with a few similar items
Run an extra rinse cycle if needed to remove detergent
Remove the comforter promptly after washing
Gently shake it out to redistribute the filling
Dry on low heat in a large dryer if the label allows
Add clean tennis balls or dryer balls to help fluff it
Stop periodically to fluff and check for damp spots
Air-dry completely if machine drying is not recommended
Make sure the comforter is fully dry before putting it back on the bed
