Unplug the dryer or turn off the gas supply
Pull the dryer away from the wall
Disconnect the dryer vent hose from the back of the dryer
Remove lint from the hose, vent opening, and dryer connection
Use a vacuum with a hose attachment to clean inside the vent opening
Insert a dryer vent brush into the vent duct and scrub out lint buildup
Clean the full length of the vent duct from both ends if possible
Remove and clean the exterior vent cover
Check for and clear any blockages in the outside vent flap
Reattach the vent hose securely
Push the dryer back into place
Plug the dryer back in or turn the gas supply on
Run the dryer briefly to confirm proper airflow
Clean the lint trap before every load
