Back up any McAfee settings or files you want to keep
Disconnect from the internet if you want to avoid security gaps during removal
Open Windows Settings
Go to Apps
Find McAfee products in the installed apps list
Uninstall each McAfee component one by one
Restart your computer
Download the McAfee Consumer Product Removal tool from McAfee’s official website
Run the MCPR tool as administrator
Follow the on-screen prompts to remove remaining McAfee files and registry entries
Restart your computer again
Check the installed apps list for any remaining McAfee products
Remove any leftover McAfee browser extensions from Chrome, Edge, or Firefox
Open Task Manager and confirm no McAfee processes are running
Delete leftover McAfee folders if they still exist in Program Files or ProgramData
Open Services and confirm no McAfee services remain
Run Windows Security or another antivirus to make sure protection is active
Install a replacement antivirus if needed
