Preheat the oven to 375°F to 400°F
Slice a baguette or other crusty bread into thin rounds
Arrange the slices on a baking sheet in a single layer
Brush or drizzle both sides lightly with olive oil
Sprinkle with salt if desired
Bake for 8 to 12 minutes, flipping halfway through
Remove when golden and crisp
Let cool before topping or serving
