Let the engine cool completely
Disconnect the negative battery terminal
Cover sensitive components with plastic bags or foil
Remove loose debris by hand or with compressed air
Vacuum dirt and leaves from the bay
Apply a degreaser to dirty areas
Let the degreaser sit for a few minutes
Agitate grime with a soft brush
Wipe surfaces with microfiber towels
Rinse lightly with a damp cloth or low-pressure water
Avoid spraying directly on electrical parts
Clean plastic and rubber parts separately
Dry the engine bay thoroughly
Remove all coverings from components
Reconnect the battery terminal
Start the engine and let it run briefly to check for issues
