Pat the steak dry with paper towels
Season both sides with salt, black pepper, and optional garlic powder
Preheat the air fryer to 400°F for 3 to 5 minutes
Lightly brush or spray the steak with oil
Place the steak in the air fryer basket in a single layer
Cook for 8 to 12 minutes for medium-rare to medium, flipping halfway through
Check internal temperature with a meat thermometer
Remove at 125°F to 130°F for medium-rare
Remove at 135°F to 140°F for medium
Remove at 145°F to 150°F for medium-well
Let the steak rest for 5 to 10 minutes before slicing
Slice against the grain and serve
