Identify the cause with a clinician before trying to “cure” vertigo
Treat BPPV with canalith repositioning maneuvers such as the Epley maneuver
Use vestibular rehabilitation therapy for balance retraining
Manage Ménière’s disease with salt restriction, diuretics, and specialist care
Treat vestibular migraine with migraine prevention and trigger control
Address inner ear infections or inflammation with appropriate medical treatment
Review and adjust medications that may be causing dizziness
Control blood pressure, blood sugar, and hydration
Treat anemia, thyroid problems, and other underlying medical conditions
Use hearing and balance evaluation if symptoms persist or recur
Avoid sudden head movements until symptoms improve
Sleep with the head slightly elevated if recommended by a clinician
Limit alcohol and other substances that worsen dizziness
Seek urgent care for vertigo with weakness, chest pain, severe headache, fainting, or vision/speech changes
See an ENT specialist, neurologist, or vestibular therapist for recurrent or persistent vertigo
