How To Lay Tile?

Gather tile, thin-set mortar, grout, spacers, trowel, level, tile cutter, sponge, bucket, measuring tools, and safety gear

Clean, dry, and level the subfloor or wall surface

Repair cracks, holes, and uneven areas

Measure the area and plan the tile layout

Find the center point and snap chalk lines

Dry-fit tiles to check spacing and cuts

Mix thin-set mortar according to instructions

Spread mortar with the correct notched trowel

Set the first tile at the layout line

Press tiles into the mortar with a slight twist

Insert spacers between tiles

Check alignment and level frequently

Cut edge tiles as needed

Allow the mortar to cure fully

Remove spacers

Mix grout and apply it with a grout float

Pack grout into the joints

Wipe excess grout with a damp sponge

Buff haze off the tile after grout firms up

Seal grout if required

Reinstall trim, baseboards, or fixtures if removed
