Turn off the disposal and switch off the power
Remove visible debris with tongs or pliers
Run cold water into the sink
Pour baking soda into the disposal
Add white vinegar and let it fizz
Flush with hot water after a few minutes
Grind ice cubes to help clean the blades
Add coarse salt for scrubbing
Run citrus peels through the disposal for freshness
Turn the power back on and test with cold water
