Cook pasta if serving with shrimp scampi; reserve some pasta water
Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat
Add minced garlic and cook briefly until fragrant
Add red pepper flakes if desired
Add shrimp in a single layer
Cook shrimp until pink and opaque, about 1 to 2 minutes per side
Add white wine or chicken broth and lemon juice
Simmer briefly to reduce slightly
Stir in more butter if desired
Add chopped parsley
Toss with cooked pasta or serve as is
Add reserved pasta water if needed to loosen the sauce
Taste and adjust with salt, black pepper, and more lemon juice
Serve immediately
