Remove the core
Slice, shred, or chop the cabbage as desired
Heat a pan or pot over medium heat
Add oil, butter, or water
Add the cabbage to the pan or pot
Season with salt and pepper
Stir occasionally
Cook until tender, about 5 to 15 minutes depending on cut size
Add garlic, onion, vinegar, or spices if desired
Serve hot
