Place eggs in a single layer in a saucepan
Add cold water until the eggs are covered by 1 inch
Bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat
Once boiling, turn off the heat and cover the pan
Let the eggs sit in the hot water for 9 to 12 minutes
Drain the hot water
Transfer the eggs to an ice bath or run them under cold water
Let them cool completely before peeling
