Inspect the straps for cuts, fraying, broken stitching, or damaged hardware
Check the working load limit and make sure it exceeds the load you are securing
Position the cargo so it is stable and balanced before strapping it down
Attach the strap hooks or ends to secure anchor points only
Route the strap over or around the cargo without twisting it
Tighten the strap gradually until the cargo is snug and cannot shift
Use a ratchet or tensioning device according to the strap type
Avoid over-tightening, which can damage the cargo or strap
Secure any loose strap ends so they do not flap or come undone
Recheck the tension after moving a short distance
Inspect the straps periodically during transport
Release the tension slowly before removing the straps
Store straps clean, dry, and untangled after use
