How To Grow An Avocado Pit?

Remove the pit from a ripe avocado and rinse off all fruit residue

Identify the top and bottom of the pit

Insert 3 to 4 toothpicks around the middle of the pit

Suspend the pit over a glass of water with the bottom half submerged

Place the glass in a warm spot with bright, indirect light

Change the water every few days

Wait for the pit to split and roots to grow

Keep the bottom of the pit in water as roots develop

When the stem reaches several inches tall and has leaves, transplant it into a pot with well-draining soil

Plant the pit with the top half above the soil

Water the soil regularly and keep it in bright, indirect light

Allow the plant to grow and repot as needed
