Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C)
Place a pie crust in a 9-inch pie dish
In a mixing bowl, whisk together 3 large eggs, 1 cup corn syrup, 1 cup granulated sugar, 1/3 cup melted butter, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, and 1/4 teaspoon salt
Stir in 1 1/2 to 2 cups pecan halves
Pour the filling into the pie crust
Arrange extra pecan halves on top if desired
Bake for 50 to 60 minutes until the center is set
Cover the crust edges with foil if they brown too quickly
Remove the pie from the oven and let it cool completely
Slice and serve
