Wash and trim fresh okra
Pack okra tightly into clean jars
Add garlic, dill, peppercorns, and optional chili flakes
Bring vinegar, water, salt, and sugar to a boil
Pour hot brine over the okra, leaving headspace
Remove air bubbles and wipe jar rims
Seal jars with lids
Process in a boiling water bath if canning for shelf storage
Let jars cool completely
Refrigerate if not water-bath canned
Wait at least 1 to 2 weeks before eating for best flavor
