Start with an MLA Works Cited list page titled “Works Cited” (centered at the top).
Use 1-inch margins on all sides.
Use double-spacing throughout.
Use a readable 12-pt font (commonly Times New Roman).
Indent the first line of each entry at the left margin; indent subsequent lines by 0.5 inch (hanging indent).
Alphabetize entries by the first element (typically the author’s last name).
Use MLA container-style formatting with commas between elements.
Capitalize titles in headline style: capitalize first word and proper nouns (not all words).
Italicize titles of larger works (books, journals, websites, films, etc.).
Use quotation marks for shorter works (articles, poems, short stories, web pages, etc.).
End each Works Cited entry with a period.
General template for a book:
Author Last Name, First Name. *Title of Book*. Publisher, Year.
General template for an article in a journal:
Author Last Name, First Name. “Title of Article.” *Title of Journal*, vol. number, no. number, Year, pp. page range.
General template for a webpage:
Author Last Name, First Name (or Organization). “Title of Web Page.” *Title of Website*, Publisher/Site Name, Publication/Last Updated Date, URL.
General template for a website page when no author is given:

General template for a film/TV episode:
Title of Film/Series. Directed by Director Name, performances by Performer Names, Production Company, Year. (For episodes: “Episode Title,” Season/Series info.)
