Wash feet daily with soap and water, then dry thoroughly, especially between the toes
Change socks at least once daily, or more often if they become damp
Wear breathable shoes and avoid tight, non-ventilated footwear
Rotate shoes to allow them to dry completely between uses
Use an over-the-counter antifungal cream, spray, or powder as directed on the label
Apply antifungal treatment to the affected area and surrounding skin consistently for the full recommended course
Keep feet dry by using antifungal or drying powder in shoes and socks
Avoid walking barefoot in public showers, locker rooms, and pool areas
Do not share towels, socks, shoes, or nail clippers
Wash towels, socks, and bedding regularly in hot water if possible
Trim toenails and keep them clean to reduce spread
Treat both feet if symptoms are present on both sides
Continue treatment for the full duration even if symptoms improve early
Avoid scratching the affected area
Seek medical care if symptoms do not improve after 2 to 4 weeks, worsen, or if there is redness, swelling, pus, fever, or diabetes/immunosuppression
