Open Minecraft
Go to the main menu
Sign in to your Microsoft account
Make sure you and your friend are on the same version of Minecraft
Add your friend on Xbox Live using their gamertag
Open the Friends tab
Select Add Friend
Enter your friend’s gamertag
Send the friend request
Wait for your friend to accept the request
Join the same world, realm, or server to play together
