Place a small bowl or cup of apple cider vinegar in the area where fruit flies gather
Cover the container with plastic wrap and poke several small holes in it
Add a drop of dish soap to the vinegar mixture to help trap flies
Use a ripe fruit piece in a container with a few holes near the top as bait
Combine wine or beer with a few drops of dish soap in a shallow bowl
Set out a commercial fruit fly trap according to the package directions
Keep traps near the source of the infestation (near fruit, drains, trash, or recycling bins)
Replace or refresh the bait/trap every 1–3 days until activity stops
Clean and empty trash and recycling frequently
Remove overripe or rotting fruit immediately
Store fruit in the refrigerator when possible
Rinse bottles, cans, and containers promptly
Clean countertops and spills, especially sticky residues
Empty and scrub garbage bins; keep lids closed
Clean sink drains with hot water and a drain brush
Check under sinks, around garbage areas, and near compost bins for breeding spots
