How To Braid A Fish Braid?

Gather hair into a clean, even base section and detangle

Create a center part (or choose the side you want the braid to sit on)

Split the hair into three sections for a standard braid

Cross the right section over the center section

Cross the left section over the new center section

Repeat the braid crossing pattern

For a fish braid, take a small outer strand from the right side

Add that small strand to the right section and cross it over the center

Take a small outer strand from the left side

Add that small strand to the left section and cross it over the center

Continue alternating small right and left outer additions while keeping tension even

Keep the braid tight and the added strands thin and consistent

Continue until you reach the ends of the hair

Secure the braid with an elastic band

Gently pull outward on the braid edges to loosen and widen slightly for a fuller look

Mist with hairspray if desired to hold the shape
