How To Calculate Percent Yield?

Percent yield = (Actual yield ÷ Theoretical yield) × 100%

Theoretical yield (g) = (moles limiting reactant × molar mass of desired product)

Actual yield (g) = measured mass of the desired product obtained from the experiment

Steps:

Determine the limiting reactant

Calculate the theoretical yield (in grams) of the desired product

Measure the actual yield (in grams) of the desired product

Substitute into: percent yield = (actual ÷ theoretical) × 100%

Example calculation format:

Percent yield = (actual yield in g / theoretical yield in g) × 100%
