How To Calculate The Grades?

Identify the grading scheme (points, percentages, letter cutoffs, and any weighting).

List all graded components (assignments, quizzes, exams, projects, participation).

Record each component’s score earned and its maximum points possible.

Convert each component to a percentage: (earned ÷ possible) × 100.

Apply weights (if used): weighted % = component % × weight (as a decimal).

Add all weighted percentages to get the overall percentage.

If using points weighting: total earned points ÷ total possible points × 100.

Apply any required rules (extra credit, drops, minimum requirements, late penalties).

Convert the final percentage to a letter grade using the course cutoffs.

Report the final grade (percentage and/or letter) and the breakdown if needed.
