Enroll in an approved forklift training program that includes classroom instruction and hands-on supervised driving
Complete the required written/knowledge assessment (if included in your program)
Complete practical skills testing on the specific forklift model(s) you will operate
Pass all required evaluations to receive your training completion certificate
Obtain any required government or regulatory authorization for your location (if applicable)
Keep proof of training/certification on file as required by your employer
Follow workplace policies for site-specific instruction (hazards, load handling, routes, inspections)
Perform pre-use forklift inspections and follow maintenance requirements
Schedule required refresher training and re-certification at the frequency required by your employer or regulations
If you change job sites or forklift types, request additional site-specific training and any required re-testing
