Check the expiration date and package for damage
Open the package carefully with your fingers, not teeth or sharp objects
Make sure the condom is the right size and the wrapper is intact
Put it on only after the penis is fully erect and before any genital contact
Pinch the tip to leave space for semen
Place the condom on the tip of the penis with the rolled side facing outward
Unroll it all the way down to the base of the penis
Smooth out any air bubbles
Use water-based or silicone-based lubricant if needed
Avoid oil-based lubricants with latex condoms
If it slips, breaks, or is put on inside out, replace it with a new one
After ejaculation, hold the condom at the base of the penis while withdrawing
Remove it carefully to avoid spilling semen
Tie the open end if desired and throw it in the trash
Use a new condom for every act of vaginal, anal, or oral sex
Never reuse a condom
