How To Remove A Blank Page In Word?

Check if the blank page is caused by extra paragraph marks:

Click the blank page area

Press Ctrl + Shift + 8 (shows/hides formatting marks)

Delete any extra paragraph mark(s) on the blank page

If it’s a section break:

Click the blank page area

Enable formatting marks (Ctrl + Shift + 8)

Delete an extra “Next Page” or “Section Break” on the blank page

If it’s caused by a page break:

Enable formatting marks (Ctrl + Shift + 8)

Delete the “Page Break” on the blank page

If it’s caused by a table or object pushing content:

Click the content near the end of the previous page

Move the table/object slightly upward, or resize it

Delete the object if it’s not needed

If it’s caused by a header/footer with different settings:

Double-click the header or footer on the blank page

In Header & Footer Tools, check “Different First Page” and “Different Odd & Even Pages”

Remove the extra header/footer content on the blank page section

If it’s caused by “Keep with next”/“Keep lines together”:

Select the paragraph before the blank page

Home → Paragraph → (dialog launcher)

Line and Page Breaks tab

Uncheck “Keep with next” and/or “Keep lines together” if enabled

If it’s caused by page layout settings:

Go to Layout (or Page Layout)

Check Margins and Paper size

Ensure the blank page isn’t created by mismatched settings in a specific section

If it’s a trailing blank paragraph at the end of the document:

Scroll to the very end

Click just before the blank page

Press Backspace until the blank page disappears

If content is in the wrong section:

Enable formatting marks (Ctrl + Shift + 8)

Locate section breaks around the blank page

Adjust the content or remove the unnecessary section break
