How To Reupholster A Chair?

Remove the chair from the work area and take photos of each part

Remove the seat, back, and any cushions from the chair frame

Use pliers or a staple remover to take out old staples, tacks, and fabric

Save the old fabric pieces to use as templates

Inspect the foam, batting, and webbing for wear or damage

Replace damaged foam, batting, springs, or webbing if needed

Place the old fabric pieces on the new upholstery fabric

Trace and cut the new fabric with extra allowance for wrapping

Center the new fabric over the chair part

Pull the fabric tight and staple it to the underside or back

Work from the center outward and keep the fabric smooth

Fold corners neatly before stapling them in place

Trim excess fabric after stapling

Reattach buttons, trim, piping, or decorative details if needed

Reassemble the chair

Check for wrinkles, loose areas, or uneven edges

Tighten or restaple any problem spots
