Rinse 1/2 cup of uncooked rice to remove dirt and excess starch
Place the rinsed rice in a clean bowl or jar
Add 2 to 3 cups of water
Stir the mixture well
Cover the container loosely
Leave it at room temperature for 12 to 24 hours
Check for a slightly sour smell
Strain the liquid into a clean container
Store the fermented rice water in the refrigerator
Use within 1 week
