Move away from the heat source
Cool the burn under cool running water for 20 minutes
Remove rings, watches, or tight clothing
Do not use ice
Do not apply butter, oils, or toothpaste
Cover the burn with a clean, non-stick dressing or cling film
Keep the person warm
Take pain relief if needed and safe to use
Do not break blisters
Seek medical help for large, deep, or severe burns
Seek urgent help for burns to the face, hands, feet, genitals, or major joints
Seek urgent help for chemical or electrical burns
Call emergency services for trouble breathing, shock, or extensive burns
