Often seen near wood, especially damp or damaged wood
Presence of sawdust-like frass near nesting areas
Winged swarmers with two pairs of wings, front wings longer than hind wings
Wings with a visible vein pattern
Antennae and legs often appear long
No stinger visible
Trails of ants moving between nest sites and food sources
