Measure the roof and calculate the amount of steel roofing panels, trim, fasteners, and underlayment needed
Check local building codes and manufacturer installation instructions before starting
Remove old roofing if required and inspect the roof deck for damage
Replace any rotten, soft, or damaged decking
Install drip edge along the eaves and rakes if required
Lay down roofing underlayment or synthetic moisture barrier over the roof deck
Install closure strips where needed at eaves, ridges, and transitions
Start at the eave on the side opposite the prevailing wind
Align the first steel panel squarely with the roof edge
Fasten the first panel according to manufacturer specifications
Overlap the next panel properly and fasten it in place
Continue installing panels across the roof, keeping them straight and aligned
Cut panels as needed for valleys, hips, vents, and edges
Install flashing around chimneys, skylights, walls, and roof penetrations
Install ridge cap and seal it with closure strips or sealant as required
Secure all trim pieces, including gable trim and eave trim
Use approved fasteners and avoid overdriving screws
Check all seams, overlaps, and fasteners for proper placement
Clean the roof surface and remove metal shavings and debris
Inspect the finished roof for gaps, loose fasteners, and exposed edges
