1 cup warm milk
2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 large egg
1 teaspoon salt
3 1/2 to 4 cups all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons melted butter for brushing
Combine warm milk, yeast, and sugar in a bowl
Let sit for 5 to 10 minutes until foamy
Add melted butter, egg, and salt
Mix in 3 1/2 cups flour
Knead until smooth, adding more flour if needed
Place dough in a greased bowl
Cover and let rise until doubled, about 1 to 1 1/2 hours
Punch down dough
Roll out dough to about 1/2-inch thickness
Cut into squares or rectangles
Place on a greased baking sheet
Cover and let rise again until puffy, about 30 to 45 minutes
Bake at 350°F for 12 to 15 minutes until golden
Brush with melted butter immediately after baking
