How To Restring An Acoustic Guitar?

Loosen each string until it is slack

Remove the string from the tuning post

Remove the string pin from the bridge

Take off the old string

Clean the fretboard, bridge, and guitar top if needed

Insert the ball end of the new string into the bridge hole

Reinsert the bridge pin while keeping the string in place

Pull the string gently to make sure the ball end is seated

Thread the other end of the string through the tuning post hole

Leave enough slack for several wraps around the post

Bend the string slightly at the post to hold it in place

Wind the tuning peg to tighten the string

Keep the wraps neat and moving downward on the post

Stretch the string gently by hand

Tune the string to pitch

Repeat for the remaining strings

Retune the guitar after all strings are installed

Check intonation and tuning stability after a short playing period
