Pour the oil into a sealable container
Keep the container tightly closed
Check local disposal rules for used oil
Take the container to a household hazardous waste facility or approved recycling center
Do not pour oil down the sink, toilet, or storm drain
Do not dump oil on the ground or into regular trash unless local rules allow it
Wipe excess oil from pans and tools with paper towels before washing
Store used oil away from heat and children until disposal
Recycle motor oil separately from cooking oil if required by local rules
