Soak lotus seeds in warm water
Change the water daily
Wait until the seeds swell and sprout
Nick the seed coat gently if germination is slow
Fill a container with heavy loam or clay soil
Add water to make muddy soil
Plant the sprouted seeds in the soil
Cover the roots lightly with soil
Add several inches of water above the soil
Place the container in full sun
Keep the water warm
Maintain consistent water depth
Transplant to a larger container or pond when established
Fertilize only after the plant has several leaves
Remove yellow or damaged leaves as needed
