Close the garage door
Disconnect the garage door opener
Clean the tracks, rollers, hinges, and springs
Use a garage-door lubricant or silicone-based spray
Apply lubricant to the rollers
Apply lubricant to the hinges
Apply lubricant to the springs
Apply lubricant to the bearings and moving joints
Wipe off any excess lubricant
Open and close the door a few times to spread the lubricant
Reconnect the garage door opener
Repeat maintenance every few months
