Do not pull out a tooth yourself
See a dentist or oral surgeon as soon as possible
Use over-the-counter pain relief as directed on the label
Apply a cold compress to the outside of the cheek for 15 to 20 minutes at a time
Rinse gently with warm salt water if the tooth is loose or the area is irritated
Eat soft foods and avoid chewing on the affected side
Avoid very hot, cold, hard, or sticky foods
Keep the area clean by brushing gently around the tooth
If there is swelling, fever, pus, or severe pain, seek urgent dental care
If the tooth was knocked out, place it in milk or saliva and get emergency dental care immediately
