Connect the NightOwl DVR to a monitor or TV using HDMI or VGA
Connect a mouse to the DVR’s USB port
Power on the DVR
Use the local on-screen menu to log in with the admin username and password
View live cameras directly on the connected monitor
Use the DVR’s local playback menu to review recorded footage
Connect the DVR to a local router or switch with an Ethernet cable if you want access from devices on the same local network
Find the DVR’s local IP address in the network settings
Enter the local IP address in a browser or use the NightOwl app on a device connected to the same LAN
Use the DVR’s QR code or device ID only if the app supports local-network access without internet
If remote access is needed later, configure it only after internet is available
