Turn on the mouse if it has a power switch
Insert batteries if the mouse uses batteries
Plug the USB receiver into an available USB port on the laptop if it is a wireless mouse with a receiver
Turn on Bluetooth on the laptop if it is a Bluetooth mouse
Open the laptop’s Bluetooth settings
Put the mouse in pairing mode
Select the mouse from the list of available devices
Confirm pairing if prompted
Wait for the laptop to finish installing the mouse automatically
Move the mouse to test that it works
Reconnect or replace batteries if the mouse does not respond
