Check that the radicals have the same index and the same radicand
Add the coefficients of like radicals
Keep the radical part unchanged
Combine only like radicals
If the radicals are not like radicals, do not add them together
If possible, rewrite radicals to create like radicals before adding
Recheck the result by simplifying again
