Locate the adjustment screws on the door closer body
Identify the sweep speed screw
Identify the latch speed screw
Identify the backcheck screw if present
Use the correct screwdriver or hex key
Turn the sweep speed screw slightly clockwise to slow the door
Turn the sweep speed screw slightly counterclockwise to speed the door
Turn the latch speed screw slightly clockwise to slow the final closing
Turn the latch speed screw slightly counterclockwise to speed the final closing
Turn the backcheck screw slightly clockwise to increase resistance near full open
Turn the backcheck screw slightly counterclockwise to decrease resistance near full open
Test the door after each small adjustment
Make only small adjustments at a time
Check that the door fully latches
Check that the door closes smoothly without slamming
Tighten any loose mounting screws
Repeat adjustments until the door operates correctly
